About Ericeira Surf & Work
More than a coworking space, we are developing a vibrant ecosystem for Ericeira’s freelancers, nomads, and startups. Beyond our 100m2 coworking area, the main floor features a video-equipped meeting room, a dedicated kitchen corner, and two bathrooms with showers. Downstairs, you’ll find a spacious yoga and exercise area, a lounge, and full changing facilities.
Our aim is to leverage the potential of such a versatile space. This means not only attracting drop-in or more permanent « desk users », but also generate collaboration, events (trainings, conferences, support groups), yoga classes with external instructors, art displays on our walls and even resident or pop-up « stores » for local/national/EU products. For this, we are using a community engagement platform and we are looking for a creative mind to help us out.
About the Junior role
First, it’s a hybrid role. You will be taking turns at the « reception », during week days and week-ends, in other words being physically present in the coworking in Ericeira. While we are setting up as much of an automated user (IT) experience as possible, there will be questions, subscriptions to setup or modify in the system, and other bits and pieces to take care of during that time in the office.
The rest of the time, we would expect you to setup, grow and manage our online social media presence, in line with the strategy we will have worked out together. This part of the role can be done both when you are on « reception duty », but also remotely. And if you are up to it, you may also want to help us out with our promotion, walking the streets finding partners throughout Ericeira’s businesses, surf camps, events scene etc.
More than just another job, mentorship is included – work directly with an experienced consultant and founder who truely believes he has a lot to learn from anyone while sharing this experience.
About you
If you are dynamic, multilingual, outgoing person, ideally with a first university or technical degree in communications and marketing, and looking for an opportunity to propose and deliver online and offline strategies, perhaps we can work together.
This is a full-time position, so while living in or around Ericeira is not mandatory, note that you will be expected to take turns onsite (approximately half your time), including some week-ends.
We’re open to any nationality, as long as you are immediately eligible to work in Portugal (NIF required). English is mandatory and Portuguese would be highly valuable to us. Other languages are a definite plus.
Alternative profiles, such as candidates in their final university year or looking for a practical internship or with 2 or 3 years of practical experience in place of a higher degree will be considered, provided they demonstrate the right level of motivation and commitment.
About the Manager-owner
I, David, worked for just under 15 years in the private sector and have been a freelance consultant for 20 years now (Back-office operations, strategy, product and project management, risk management).
I have had my own or helped others with their startups (in sustainable development, microfinance, soft mobility, risk management). I enjoy hearing and learning about all the innovative ideas out there and sharing what little knowledge I may have. I support and work with an international NGO.
Finally, a long time ago ( !) I was a team swim coach (age group, varsity and adult) and I still very much enjoy being able to help anyone grow, as long as there is motivation.
